I’ve just made JSGamePortal live and you can find it at www.jsgameportal.com .

Right now it supports games from Lost Company and Isochron but as the release date for Lost Company is much closer, you’ll see more content in there for that.

You can create a game account which will set you up for playing both games and if you sign up soon you’ll get XP bonuses for Lost Company that can be redeemed when you buy the game near the release date.

Also, if you’re interested in being an Alpha or Beta tester for Lost Company, you can sign up in there too.

It’s still in Alpha, so let me know if you have any problems.  Every sign up helps out the testing of JSGamePortal so go try it out!

JSGamePortal for Online Games

After noticing some comments wondering how the multiplayer aspects were going to work for Isochron, I thought it was time to reveal JSGamePortal!

JSGamePortal + JSGameEngine = Turn Based Online Awesomeness

As well as writing a game engine (JSGameEngine) to handle all my games and apps, I’ve also written an online, turn based game server with a little help from the Google App Engine.

JSGamePortal has the following features:

  • Log in with any Google Account
  • Store a list of friends to compare progress and invite to online matches
  • Create and play public or private turn based matches
  • Get notifications when it’s your turn
  • Keeps track of all your in game achievements and rankings for all the JS range of games.
  • Holds the entire match on the server so you can start playing online games on your Mac, and continue the same game later on on your iPhone or iPad or whatever.
  • Entire match lists also means the game client can go back and replay the entire match if you’ve forgotten how you got into your current mess.. :P
  • Per game leaderboards
  • And a lot more

Lost Company has a mature gameplay and is already using all the current features of JSGamePortal which allows us to play matches against each other and test without the need for every player to be logged on at once.  But the real beauty is being able to continue the same match on a completely different device seamlessly.

Alien Sneak Peak and Mission Types

Thanks to everyone who gave input to what they’d like to see in an Isochron alien. Some ideas were a little outside the scope of the project, but many have influenced or changed my alien designs so thanks again!

While the alien forces come together, I’d like to hear what you’d like to see in terms of missions and objectives for the tactical part of the game.  Obviously I’ll have to draw the line somewhere, but be creative and I’ll see what I can do :)

I’m actually interested in both Single Player missions and Multi Player missions.  Deathmatch MP games can get a bit boring after a while so what other game types would you like to see that could work with an X-Com style battlefield against your friends?

Aliens

I’m in the process of creating some more alien concepts and I’d like to know what you guys would like to see in an alien horde that’s looking to wipe out every last human they can find.

Do you expect large(ish) hordes of swarming aliens? Perhaps a fewer high tech alien with a taste for vengeance is more your style? Stupid tanks? Brittle thinkers? Let me know what alien force you wouldn’t want to be knocking on your door..

And if you played X-Com, let us know what shocking experience you had with a new alien type that made you rethink your game. The introduction of Crysilids had me running..

Heavy Weapons

Hey everyone.

Behold new Isochron weapons!  The basic starting weapons have now been mostly finalised and the devastating power of the base weapons will probably only barely keep you alive :)

One of the most exciting of the new weapons is the Gatling Gun.  With a special fire mode that sweeps between two points to handle groups of enemies that are ‘sort of’ clusterd, it’ll be perfect for that awkward area between using explosives for very close groups and precision for very spread out groups.

You may have also noticed that the isometric unit is holding the weapon – while not 100% perfect just yet, the sprites have all been painstakingly split up and the weapons have been positioned so that you’ll be able to tell what weapon a unit is holding just by looking.
