Hey everyone.
Behold new Isochron weapons! The basic starting weapons have now been mostly finalised and the devastating power of the base weapons will probably only barely keep you alive
One of the most exciting of the new weapons is the Gatling Gun. With a special fire mode that sweeps between two points to handle groups of enemies that are ‘sort of’ clusterd, it’ll be perfect for that awkward area between using explosives for very close groups and precision for very spread out groups.
You may have also noticed that the isometric unit is holding the weapon – while not 100% perfect just yet, the sprites have all been painstakingly split up and the weapons have been positioned so that you’ll be able to tell what weapon a unit is holding just by looking.

Maybe off topic but are we getting new weapon designs, umm maybe a heavy armour suit with mounted shoulder weapon, just always thought should be more weapon systems. u only Get left,right hand but this is the future right? Why not drones as scouts, maybe no weapons on drone….Erhh am blabin huh hehe well let me hear what u think
Having a complex armour system might get a bit tricky to represent on the iPhone during the equip phase. I’d have to sacrifice some of the other slots and I’m not sure that’d work so well. For that extra hit of unit upgrade I have actually planned to have implants to boost stats and the like. I also think having too many weapons on a unit makes them have less of a ‘role’ to play.
There are going to be mechs though, and they are going to have a few things to customise. I might even have an un-piloted mech as a scout too..
Sounds great i do greatly thank you for keeping a classic alive, and so far am looking forward to the new feats the other games didnt have

My preference would be to not get too crazy with the weapons. One of the things I loved about the original XCom was that it was very “human” – everything seemed plausible (ok, ok.. forget the fact that Aliens had invaded..) sort of the like first Aliens movies, there was enough grounded in reality that it made you really care what happened to the people on the squad.
Everything looks great so far! How can we support the project?
Any ballpark figure on when you plan to submit this? I’m holding my breath.
Well, it’s a constant struggle between earning money vs working on Isochron. I’ve used up all my personal savings getting to this point so I’m having to work a few more contracts than I’d like to get enough capital to finish it. I’m seriously thinking about posting up a ‘kickstarter‘ project to get some funds to get me to the end. If I could dedicate my time to it, it’d be ready for beta in a matter of months. Most of the basics are there – it’s just a matter of gluing it together and inserting the content.
I want this game so badly too, so I hate to see my time going to other things that aren’t related to Isochron.
Sorry quick question totally unrelated to heavy weapons …
Are you going to be able to name your soldier, used to like naming my first set of soldier after mates etc and seeing how long they lasted. Also used to name them if they got 5 kills, bit like a Fighter Pilot Ace and following their usually short-lived career.

Absolutely! You’ll be able to name your units after your friends, pets, kitchen utensils or whatever you feel like. This is a feature that I keep getting not-so-subtle hints about so you’re not alone and it will be in there!
