It’s been a while since I’ve put up an update regarding the iPhone Tactical Turn Based Game. It still doesn’t have a name, but it’s coming and there is a whole heap of backstory that you may get a glimpse of some time soon.
The delays have partly been due to other projects, but mainly due to a complete engine rewrite. Things are now optimised to the hilt so now it doesn’t feel sluggish on the iPhone. For any OpenGL nut out there, the whole game renders in only one OpenGL draw call.
The new engine still needs its sprite animation part written so units will be ‘floating’ for a while. Sorry about that. But look past that and you’ll notice -
- An inventory system with slots attached to different units and to the ground of every tile! (but tiles don’t show that they have an item on them just yet..)
- Additions to the tile set.
- Unit stats including time units, health and accuracy.
- Time units can be used up by moving around, and units are stopped when they run out.
- Ballistics are done with wall AND player hits enabled. A player that’s hit will get damage dealt
- And many more bits and pieces.
