Although it’s not the main push of my efforts, I’ve finally finished MineFieldHex for the iPhone and Mac and I actually really enjoy playing the game. The basic minesweeper games didn’t quite do it for me, and I think it’s partly because of my geometry snobbery. Whose idea was it to treat tiles with only their corners touching as adjacent?
Anyway, here’s what the new game looks like – it’s a concise usage of the hex grid mechanics that I’ll be using in a lot of my other games.

The app was sent for review three days ago and hopefully it will be available soon. Once the iPhone/iPod touch version is available I’ll be releasing the Mac version too.
It has a bunch of options to change board size and number of mines, and it’ll even vibrate when you step on a mine.
I’ll let everyone know when it gets accepted by the App Store.
